Identifying Awe
A person experiencing awe will most likely have:
Goosebumps on their arms, neck, scalp and back
A desire to cry
A change in heart rate
Open and slight drop-jaw mouth
Widened eyes
Audible inhalation
Respectful and reverent movement, usually kneeling or standing still
Perceptive words e.g., describing sensations, appreciation or observations of the world
Neural responses within the precuneus gyrus (enlightened/ positive awe) or left and right insula (fear/ negative awe) regions of the brain.
