external to the individual and outside of their control<\/li><li>Being in the presence of something greater than the individual<\/li><li>Being free of time pressures<\/li><li>Participation in and openness to the encounter.<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"p1\">Awe is experienced as a fusion and spontaneous overflow of feelings including amazement, connectedness, ecstasy, elevation, expansion of time or timelessness, fascination, fear, heightened awareness, humility, gratitude, insignificant, oneness, pleasure, respect, sense of enormity, smallness, surprise, transcendence, uncertainty, unity, vastness and wonder.<\/p><p class=\"p1\"><strong>Keltner\u2019s 2023 research identified 8 Wonders of Life that inspire awe experiences:<\/strong><\/p><ol><li>Moral beauty (other people\u2019s courage, kindness, strength)<\/li><li>Collective effervescence (events and gatherings of people merging \u2018life force\u2019 e.g. weddings, concerts, rallies)<\/li><li>Nature<\/li><li>Music<\/li><li>Visual design<\/li><li>Spirituality and religion<\/li><li>Life and death<\/li><li>Epiphany (understanding essential truths about life)<\/li><\/ol><p class=\"p1\"><strong>Research participants describing an awe experience:<\/strong><\/p><ul class=\"ul1\"><li class=\"li1\">\u201cI feel the presence of something greater than myself\u201d<\/li><li class=\"li1\">\u201cI feel part of some greater entity\u201d<\/li><li class=\"li1\">\u201cI feel like I am in the presence of something grand\u201d<\/li><li class=\"li1\">\u201cI feel like I am a part of the greater whole\u201d<\/li><li class=\"li1\">\u201cI feel the existence of things more powerful than myself\u201d<\/li><li class=\"li1\">\u201cI feel like my own day to day concerns are relatively trivial\u201d<\/li><li class=\"li1\">\u201cIn the grand scheme of things, my own concerns and issues don\u2019t matter as much\u201d<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"p1\"><strong>Collated from the
